Do we know the threshold for revision surgery? (2 of 7)

from 6/4 post-Metal on Metal Bearings, the evidence so far http://www.mydepuyhiprecall.com/2011/06/metal-on-metal-bearings-evidence-so-far.html)

Do we know the threshold for revision surgery? Common indications for revision surgery following MoM 'resurfacing':
  • fracture
  • loosening/osteolysis
  • pseudotumor
  • metal hypersensitivity
  • pain
  • avascular necrosis
  • instability
There is no clear evience describing the overall threshold for revision surgery.

The recognition of the the problems posed by pseudotumors may see a change in the threshold for revision with GREATER EMPHAIS ON MONITORING THE ASYMPTOMATIC PATIENT.
